Students usually worry about a gap in their studies and whether they will be able to obtain a UK student visa or not.
Study gap refers to the number of years after your most recent qualification.
Study gap can be 2, 3 years, 5 years or even more, but a large study gap can ruin your visa application.
For example, if you are an undergraduate coming to continue your studies in the UK, the 2 years gap is normally allowed and a gap of 5 years is acceptable for most of the postgraduate students. Some universities might even offer courses to students after 7 years gap, but this is not always the case.
When they look at your reasons to justify your study gap, there should be a solid reason. For example, previous work experience, government exams or other short courses, health reasons, a complicated family situation…
It is important to give genuine answers to the visa officers. For example if you took a break to complete a short course to gain certain skills that are connected to the studies you want to pursuit in the UK, a certificate of this course should also be attached.
Unfortunately, sometimes health issues can affect the student’s plans and force them to take a temporary study gap. In those case, a health report will need to be shown (medical certificate, etc).
